Workmen's baths at Pumpherston showing spray bath cubicles and octagonal communal wash basin.Refinery and oil works staff once suffered a variety of skin diseases and cancers due to their constant exposure to oils and waxes, and a lack of bathroom facilities in the home. During the 1930s Scottish Oils ltd constructed bath and washing facilities at their works to combat this hazard.
