Description
B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.
Unlike other shale oil works, the retorts at Westwood were charged by conveyors and a series of hoppers. This shows an area at the top of the retorts where shale was fed from overhead storage bunkers into auxiliary hoppers set at floor level. The indicators in the centre show the position of the charging doors into the retort.
