Description

B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.

Miners at the pit bottom of Westwood pit c.1929, and are about to leave the pit cage at the beginning of a shift. The drill bits and other tools on the right will be taken to the surface for sharpening.
