B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.

View of longwall working of an inclined seam at Breich Pit. A mechanical cutter is placed to undercut the shale seam whilst a shaking plate conveyer is delivering cut shale to a waiting hutch. Steel girders and props support the roof.
