Paper certificate given to visitors to Westwood Pit who entered the mine and dug a small amount of oil shale, as a souvenir, c. 1950. Signed by John Stein, Manager
Certificate is bordered by alternating thistles and lion rampants in red print, and printed illustrations of thistle shaped "Scotch" petrol pump globe at top centre, James Young at middle bottom (LVSAV1990.006.132), Westwood Pit head at top left (LVSAV1990.006.164), miners working the shale underground at bottom left (LVSAV1990.006.112), oil refinery at top right (LVSAV1990.006.187), a bench of retorts at bottom right (LVSAV1990.006.179) together with a Scottish Oils Ltd seal.
