This book was donated by the great-granddaughter of Redwood along with LVSAV2016.125 and LVSAV2016.126. This book has a personal dedication to his daughter Katherine Redwood, dated May 1897. The front cover has multiple snippets and articles from magazines and journals from around the world which mention the publication. These were kept by Redwood. There is also a letter from The Philadephia Museums requesting a complimentary copy to add to their library. The book is officially dedicated to Alexander Lumsden, a friend of Redwood, who was a mining engineer for Young's Paraffin Light & Mineral Oil Company. Chapter II discusses Scottish Shale.
