Description
Oil lamp with duplex burner, manufactured by Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company
Glass shade has engraved transfer decoration with 'Young's Paraffin Oil Co. (Limited) Scotland Works West Calder' on one side and the other reads 'Young's Paraffin Lamps, Birmingham, Clissold Works'. Simple brass base, on ceramic plinth with clear glass font. Belonged to the donor's late father, Ron Findlay who worked with BP in Public Relations and was given the lamp when he retired from BP Refinery at Grangemouth; and also the donor's uncle, Bob Findlay who was the editor of the West Lothian Courier.
