Engraved 'Longines' gold watch, presented by BP for long service
'Longines' gold watch face with strap missing. Engraved on the reverse with "To mark 41 years service Mr G. Hamilton 14th April 1959 with the British Petroleum Group". In black presentation box with gold coloured decoration around the edges and 'Longines', the make of the watch, written in gold lettering on the top of the box. Inside the bottom of the box is lined with black velvet, and the top lined with cream silk material with 'Longines' written in gold lettering along with their logo. The watch is no longer in working order and inside the box are a two slips of paper relating to when it was last sent for repair. The watch was presented to George Hamilton, grandfather of the donor, who started his working life as a blacksmith and then moved on to work in the shale industry. He worked in Addiewell, Westwood and possibly Burngrange. He then moved on to Pumpherston Oil Works and received this watch when he left BP.
