Description
Copy of 3 black and white photographs plus copy of the reverse of the first image (R14-00064.001) to show the handwritten note 'The Last Retort'. The three images were taken by David Syme, grandfather of the donor, at the time Deans Works were demolished and show the retort before and during demolition in 1956. The pictures also give an indication of the wider area in the bakcground. David Syme worked in the shale industry and lived most of his adult life at 14 Dean Street, Livingston Station and was a keen amateur photographer.
