Copy image of a sepia photograph of a Scottish Oil and Shell Mex tanker, registration number V7362. Donors father, David Houston, drove a Shell Mex tanker after WW1 until forming his own haulage company in 1922. He purchased and converted old army trucks into tankers for his own haulage company. From 1903-1932, registration plates which began with G, S or V were initially restricted to Scotland and followed the sequence of one or two letter code, followed by a sequence number from 1-9999.
