Description

Copy of black and white photographic postcard pf Pratts car garage in East Calder. This was subsequently owned and operated by donors father (business side) and uncle (mechanical side) and was then called Gardner and Hope. Gardner was believed to be a silent partner. When donors father died, the uncle continued the business for a while but eventually sold it due to ill health. Image shows car with license plate UW 3463 parked in the garage forecourt. This car was registered in Greater London between 1903-1932. There are 2 cars parked in front of / next to the pumps with women sitting in the car and men standing around in a posed shot. The pumps are Pratts, and 'Scotch' thistle relating to Avery and Hardall pumps c. 1936. Same people in this photo as in R17-00017. Donors father is far left and his uncle is forth from the left, leaning on the bonnet of the car.
