David Mercer (c.1869-?)
Cashier and Head Clerk
RETIRAL OF MR. DAVID MERCER.
Mr. Fraser reported that arrangements had been made for the retiral from active service, owing to the reorganisation of the work at Edinburgh Branch Office, of Mr. David Mercer, Cashier and Head Clerk there. Mr.Mercer is now in his 63rd year, and for the long period of 44 years has been in the service of the Scottish Mlneral Oil Trade. He joined The Pumpherston Oil Co. Ltd. early in 1887 and from 1904 acted as Cashier at their Tarbrax Works. On the closing of these Work he was, in April, 1927, transferred to this Company and has served in his present capacity for the past 4 years. He has been most assiduous in carrying out all his duties. It was recommended that The Pumpherston Oil Co. Ltd., in whose employment he has served for the greater part of the period, should be asked to grant him a retiral allowance at the rate of £135 per annum, to which the Board agreed. It is estimated that this allowance, along vlith his interest in the Anglo-Persian Provident Fund Trust, assuming that he is granted the full benefits of the "C" Account, will give him a total of about £150 per annum.
