B&W negative copied in 1990 from official albums then held at Grangemouth refinery.
One of a number of underground images and film recorded for promotional purposes in about 1929 at Westwood pit. See also LVSAV2019.094 and LVSAV2019.095 .This scene is at a working face of the mine, the man on the right is boring a shot hole with a ratchet drill which is screwed into place against a 'tree' jammed between the roof & floor. The man on the left is preparing to load a shot hole, the charge for which is on the floor on the left. The initials on wall are of fireman who inspected the place before the miners commenced work, and the date of his visit.
