Description
Handwritten medical notes on paraffin dermatosis among paraffin workers.
It details the different forms of the dermatosis and the varying effects it had on each part of the body effected. It makes note that certain types of the dermatitis were more common in the older oil workers. The notebook appears to number the conditions and these numbers are linked to numbered slides - there does not appear to be a correlation to the slides that were part of the same collection. A 1951 diary has been used for a notebook. This notebook is part of a collection of glass plate negatives (LVSAV2017.052) and photo negatives (LVSAV2017.053) that detail the damage to oil workers bodies by paraffin dermatosis. Believed to have been the records taken by Dr Alexander Scott when employed by the Scottish Shale Oil Companies and the Home Office (Factory Department) to examine the causes and development of paraffin dermatosis.
