Standhill (lands)

Parish:
Bathgate, Linlithgowshire
Local authority:
West Lothian

During mid-Victorian times, the lands of Standhill were owned by John Mitchell. Limestone was worked beneath northern parts of the land by James Russel & Son between the 1850's and 1878. Coal and other minerals were leased to Gavin Paul & Sons Ltd. for 31 years from Whitsunday 1897, which were perhaps worked from Boghead pit.
