    • 143416 - Decision by Bathgate District Committee of Linlithgow County Council on 9th July 1901, to charge wayleave on existing level crossings. The Loganlea Coal Company have a crossing over the Old Shotts Road at Stoneyburn but there is not much traffic, and £2 would be fair. The gates, however, should be kept locked as children from the adjacent cottages often swing on and leave them open across the road. They are provided with bolts and padlocks, but the latter are seldom used.

LEVEL CROSSING AT BENTS. It was stated that level crossing at Bents and Chemical Works were still being wrought in the same unsatisfactory way. It was suggested that the Railway Company should be instructed to have the position of the gates altered, and side gates constructed. It was thought advisable that the company should lodge a plan showing the proposed alterations Mr Laidlaw stated that since writing the letter he had met the inspector at Bathgate, who informed him that steps were being taken to have the gates put into better working order. The matter was deferred.
